Our History

The SurgiCenter of Baltimore was conceived in 1989 by a group of physicians in partnership with Sinai Hospital, now LifeBridge Health. The original intent was to provide a better surgical experience for their patients, pleasant working conditions for themselves and the staff who would assist them and to maintain some control over their practice of medicine.

The SurgiCenter of Baltimore, a multi-specialty, freestanding, ambulatory surgery center was established in Owings Mills, Maryland, a rapidly growing suburb of northwest Baltimore. The Center did its first procedure on May 22, 1989 and received its Medicare certification within that same month. The SurgiCenter of Baltimore is licensed by the State of Maryland as an ASC and is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). The facility is cradled in a busy office park surrounded by residential areas and is within easy access of four major hospitals, within a 9 mile radius of the Center. It is located on the ground floor of the Health Specialists Building at 23 Crossroads Drive in Owings Mills, Maryland.

The facility's patient care areas consist of a seven (7) bay Pre-op Admission area, five (5) general Operating Rooms, two (2) general Treatment Rooms, one (1) specialty Treatment Room, one (1) eye laser Treatment Room, a fourteen (14) bay Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and a five (5) station Secondary PACU/Discharge Area. The Registration and Family waiting area is adjacent to the patient care areas.
